Frequently Asked Questions

Who I Work With

I specialize in working with individual preteens ages 8-12 and moms working through a variety of challenges and life transitions.

I have a passion working with women transitioning into motherhood, as well as seasoned mothers seeking support navigating the twists and turns of daily life and (re)discovering and reconnecting to themselves. My own journey into motherhood plays a large part in my desire for this work with mothers and children.

I also specialize in working with kids needing a space to tell their own story and receive guidance in finding their voice and confidence to shine in life.

Do you notice your child yearning for new tools in their box when it comes to navigating peer relationships? Or perhaps you notice they are struggling with impulse control, emotional expression or feeling overwhelmed with worries. I am here to help empower them (and you!) with the tools they need to thrive.

My creative approach can be beneficial in helping individuals facing challenges including:

  • social skills

  • emotional and behavioral challenges

  • stress-reduction

  • self-awareness

  • anxiousness/worries

  • anger/frustrations

  • self-esteem/confidence

  • ADHD

  • identity

  • adjustment issues

  • children of divorce or separation

  • personal growth

  • pre/postnatal emotional needs

  • parenting skills; emotion coaching & healthy attachment

I utilize a client centered, humanistic, strengths-based approach and I draw from a variety of interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, art therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy and heart-centered, relational approach meeting clients right where they are.

How I Work

I believe all individuals have their own strengths, our work together is to figure out what helps you to grow and live the life you desire. Art, mindfulness and visual meditations are also an aspect of my practice as a way for individuals to find a space that feels safe and comfortable to continue discovering their own answers. I will support your journey to self-discovery allowing you to have more fulfilling relationship with yourself and others.

I have been trained to guide your healing process using art materials. The process of creating art is therapeutic in and of itself. During our time together I will offer art directives that will allow you to create a visual representation of how you are feeling. This might seem overwhelming and you might be thinking, "I can't draw that" or "I don't know what that means." And that's all right. It is ALL about the process of creating and no previous art skills or knowledge are needed. Some sessions clients choose to make art, while others want more space to talk, and some are a combo of the two. I follow your needs and desires.

Sometimes the process of creating allows the maker deeper understanding to things they have no idea are impacting their life. I will not interpret what your art means, but I will help guide you to discover deeper meaning. As the maker you are the only one who will really know what your art means. The art helps to create a visual representation of where you have been, where you are, and where you want to be. Through out our time together we will look back at your visual representations for further reflection. This process is beneficial for all ages.

Together, we will craft sessions that are right for you & your healing process. I look forward to meeting you.

Suggested to have on hand…
> Mixed media sketchbook 9x12 or 11x14- depending on what individual prefers
> Drawing supplies of choice- oil pastels, markers, colored pencils, watercolor paint
> Modeling clay- it's great to have an oil based one that doesn't dry out so you can use it over and over again. Crayola makes one that has a variety of colors. Model Magic is great to be able to create pieces you want to keep. Some like to have Sculpey too, which is an oven bake clay, it does come in smaller packaging and can be a bit hard to warm up/squish at first, but some people really like it.

Payment
Payment is due at the beginning of each session unless arranged otherwise. I accept Venmo, most Credit Cards accepted via Stripe, PayPal, and HSA.

Good faith estimate of charges

The total amount you will spend on therapy is dependent on how many sessions you decide to schedule. I do not require a number of sessions and cannot anticipate how many you feel you or your child will need to reach your goals. You are entitled to, and I am happy to furnish upon request, a good faith estimate of charges.

Cancellation Policy
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. After we have established a working schedule, if you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.

Insurance
At this time I do not participate in any insurance panels. If a client wishes to access insurance coverage for online art therapy and mental health counseling services in Washington, it is the client’s responsibility to confirm out-of-network coverage before beginning services.

In Washington and Florida you will ask what your out of network mental health benefits are when working with a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
