Stress and Anxiety Relief for Preteens (8-12 year olds)

There’s nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your child struggle.

Easily frustrated, negative self-talk, constant worries, yelling, melting down, avoiding things they love, struggling to calm their bodies to sleep and crying out of nowhere.

It’s beyond concerning and frustrating and what’s even worse…

Watching your child’s feelings escalate without knowing how to best support them.

Perhaps you’re struggling to understand why such situations that feel small and trivial such as picking out clothes to get ready for school, being told it’s time to do math homework or clean their room…sets them off so the whole day is ruined.

Maybe you’re here struggling and feel like you’re doing something wrong as their mom…left wondering, “how can I help my child?"

Filled with thoughts of overwhelm and feeling hopeless because you feel like you’re doing everything you can to offer support and pour love and attention over them, but nothing seems to help.

You’re ready for support and find yourself feeling like your child needs someone to talk to that can help them with different tools and coping mechanisms. A neutral space to call their own.

You’re in the right place!

I get it. Parenting can be so hard. You’re not alone.

I’M HERE TO HELP PROVIDE THE SUPPORT YOU HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR!

Sure we can teach our children to take a deep breath, count to calm down, take a break, heck even create a calm-down kit and help them problem solve to no ends.

But…let’s talk about the elephant in the room…WHY?

>> Why are they feeling so overwhelmed and anxious?

>> Why are they so frustrated?

>> Why are they struggling to calm down?

>> Why are they constantly at their boiling point?

The answer…

WE NEED TO GO DEEPER.

We need to explore under the surface.

Under the emotional reactions and behaviors you are seeing.

We need to dive deep into what is actually happening in their mind and body.

And we’re not going to get there by just sitting, talking and trying to pull it out of them.

We do this by meeting them where they are and using their love of art to drive the conversation.

Creating an environment where they feel safe to explore in a way that also feels creative, engaging and fun.

I get that it seems really overwhelming and you’re probably feeling like you’ve tried everything else from reading books, talking to their doctor and teacher, listening to podcasts, talk therapy, but nothing has worked.

In my art therapy practice, I utilize a holistic, client centered, strengths-based approach and I draw from a variety of interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, art therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy and heart-centered approach meeting clients right where they are. And I provide you, the parent, with tools along the way to bridge their sessions with you at home.

LET'S BRING CONNECTION, LAUGHTER & JOY INTO YOUR HOME together.

One of the most effective ways to help kids express their thoughts + feelings is through art therapy.

Art Therapy will help your child to connect with their emotions, express their thoughts and feelings in a healthy way, calm their nervous system, gain deeper self-awareness and confidence.

My method doesn’t focus on solving just one problem or developing just one skill as it teaches your child life skills to thrive in life- and this process is unlike anything you've ever tried before.

And definitely a crucial missing piece when it comes to going to traditional talk therapy.

Why a holistic approach?

We want to uncover the root cause of your child's stress, anxiety and roller coaster of emotions so they can calm their nervous system, express their feelings in a healthy way & rewire their thoughts to break the cycle- forever.

Without tangible, actionable steps to help your child process and release their thoughts and feelings, there can’t be long-term healing or growth.

The clients I work best with are ones who are ready for change and have an open mind for learning new tools and strategies. I also provide you as the parent, with new tools and strategies via parenting calls and mental wellness guides to print and use at home.

After over a decade of experience as an art therapist, I have created a therapeutic approach that uses:

ART THERAPY + MINDFULNESS to help your child to:

>> Connect to themselves

>> Discover tools that help them to calm their nervous system

>> Express their thoughts and feelings in a healthy way

>> Increase their self-esteem + confidence

>> Establish a lifestyle that helps to support their mental health.

There’s a powerful shift that happens when our children learn the VITAL SKILLS to support their mental health.

They simply need someone to meet them where they are, listen & guide them through those first steps. And with the right tools, they are 100% capable of being their positive, calm selves enjoying life again.
